This past Friday, we had the pleasure of welcoming the 6th bishop of the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee, Bishop William A. Wack CSC, at a meet and greet reception at Associated Industries of Florida building. There, the bishop met with community and business leaders of the Tallahassee area, along with current and past families, supporters, and leadership of the high school. Bishop Wack was ordained and installed on August 22, and is greatly enjoying his new role stating “I feel like I am a priest for a larger parish, a larger church.” Bishop Wack was deeply appreciated for his years of service at the Diocese of Austin, and his compassion and infectious love for the Church will refresh the diocese as a whole with energy, excitement, and enthusiasm.
The event celebrated the new diocesan shepherd and honored a few exceptional supporters of the school. At the event, the new St. John Paul II Catholic High School Honor Society was introduced and three extraordinary people were recognized for their sustaining gifts of time, talent, and treasure along with their long term and consistent support of Catholic education. The first three memberships to the Honor Society were awarded to Karen Koelemij, Dr. Michael Forsthoefel, and Michael Bell. A Special Recognition award was presented to Mark Whitley.
We are excited for the future as we work together with Bishop Wack to grow the school, and are thankful to all those outstanding individuals who have and continue to contribute to the education of Tallahassee’s future leaders.
