This week, the finalists for the Best & Brightest Awards, which honor high school seniors from across Leon County for their high achievements in academics, leadership and helping the community, were recognized at a reception at the Hotel Duval. Winners will be announced on May 16.

Now in its 13th year, the Best & Brightest Awards have recognized more than 1,800 high school seniors and awarded more than $575,000 in scholarships.

Among the 158 finalists are 15 St. John Paul II Catholic High School students:
