Morning Offering to the Sacred Heart of Jesus:

O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in reparation for my sins, for the intentions of our Bishop, and in particular for the intentions of our Holy Father for this month.

Community Service

At John Paul II, we believe that the service component of our curriculum acts as an important vehicle for spiritual growth of our students and an opportunity to earn service hours for Bright Futures and a students’ college resume.

Sacred Scripture clearly states that Jesus’ mission included service to others. In the Gospel of St. Matthew, the people ask, “Lord, when did we see you hungry … when did we see you thirsty? “ Jesus responds “I assure you, as often as you did it for the least of my brothers, you did it for me.”

During our annual Catholic Schools Week celebration in the last week of January, all faculty, staff and students put aside the tasks of school for the day and offer their time and talent to serve local organizations in need. In the past the entire school has helped with projects at nursing homes, The Animal Shelter, Goodwood Plantation, Tallahassee Museum, Open Door Women’s Clinic, local parishes and more.

The students of John Paul II Catholic High School annually sponsor a Relay for Life Team, Rice Bowl Offering during Lent and Good News Ministries Food Drives.

Students are required to perform a minimum of 100 volunteer hours before graduation.
To enhance the John Paul II experience, students create and fulfill a Christian Service project in each of their four years. The program’s purpose is to enable students to see that service is part of our responsibility and calling as Christians.

Each project must be centered on a particular theme such as service to a parish, a particular organization, the school, healthcare, and many other areas of focus. After selecting a focus, a student must meet the program requirement based on their grade level. Students are required to reflect on their experience. Students who have demonstrated outstanding service will be recognized at the end of the school year. If a student elects to participate in projects off campus, please be aware that John Paul II Catholic High School is not responsible for overseeing transportation or for providing supervision unless specifically noted in writing. Parents/guardians are encouraged to get all the details of their student’s service project so that they are fully aware of their participation.
