Spiritual Life

The John Paul II community prays together before morning announcements and recites the Morning Offering to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Prayer to the Most Blessed Trinity and concludes with the Pledge of Allegiance. (see prayers below)

Daily Prayer

Classroom Prayer: Each class period begins with prayer, utilizing both traditional prayers and original prayers composed by teachers and students.
School Weekly Masses: The whole school gathers each Friday to develop relationships and faith community through the celebration of the liturgy. Music is lead by volunteers from our student body who give up their Thursday lunch time to practice for the Friday Liturgy.
Graduation Mass: Our annual baccalaureate service is held at the Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. The graduation ceremony is a dignified, traditional ceremony which includes faculty dressed in full academic regalia including mortar board, and gown, the celebration of the Mass, and a beautiful commencement ceremony. Musical talents of our seniors is often a great highlight!

Liturgical Ministries

Ministers of Hospitality: Students volunteers greet visitors at the door and provides assistance at liturgical celebrations.
Cantors: Cantors are volunteers from the choir who are trained to lead the assembly in song at liturgical celebrations.
Instrumentalists: We encourage our students to share their musical talents during our liturgical celebrations.
Intercessions & Gift Bearer: The class of the week leads the General Intercessions and selects volunteers to bring up the Gifts at Mass.
Lectors: All students receive training to become Ministers of The Word for Eucharistic liturgies and prayer services.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion: Juniors and Seniors can volunteer to be trained as Ministers of Communion and distribute the consecrated bread and wine at Mass and may, on occasion, bring communion to the sick.
